Boston Partnership E-Update
August 2005

Dear Friends,
I love the culture of the Partnership! Someone called today, out of the blue, just to ask how we were doing and to pray for me and the team. God continues to bless us as we partner with all of you. We believe God is working through your prayers and resources to help Bostonians find their way back to Him. Thanks for reading this month's update.

For the Kingdom,

Hank, Mike, John and the Boston Partnership Team

Boston Tea Party Part II?
Laying the Financial Foundation
Boston Tea PartyAugust will be our most significant fundraising month to date. $1.2 million will be needed to support the new church in Boston over the next five years. Why do we need so much money and why for five years? First, the cost of an urban plant in Boston will be much higher than the average church start-up. Additionally, there is a such a history of hurt and wariness surrounding the church in Boston that it will take some time to overcome those barriers. We are praying that we would become a healthy, self- supporting church in five years.

On Sunday, August 14th, at 6:30 p.m. we will host a fundraising celebration at Community Christian Church's Montgomery/Oswego campus. We hope that you received your personal invitation to the "Boston Partnership Tea Party and Commitment Celebration." If you did not receive your invitation, please forgive us as we did not intentionally exclude you and consider this your formal invitation. The evening will be a celebration of all that God has done through the Partnership thus far (we are always looking for an excuse to party) and a time to share the vision of the church. Those in attendance can present their financial commitment to the Partnership and we will have Boston creme pie and tea (we love to eat too). If you have not RSVP'd or if this is your first invitation and you would like to attend, you can email us at info@bostonpartnership.org, or call (630)388- 5128. We hope to see you there.

The Movement
Meet Denise and Suncrest Christian Church
Denise Tribble of Suncrest Christian Church

Each new person or organization to join The Partnership brings unique gifts and passions. We want to introduce you to Denise who briefly tells us why Suncrest is passionate about partnering with us.

What’s your name, what church do you go to, and what role do you play?

My name is Denise Tribble and I am a member of Suncrest Christian Church, St. John, Indiana. I lead the Missions Team at Suncrest.

What excites you most about the Boston Partnership?

The Stories! The stories to come of people who have been changed by hearing the word of God. This [partnership] will have a huge impact on the people of Boston and they don’t even know it yet!

What would you say to any person or church considering being a part of the Boston Partnership?

It is a must! When I visited Boston 3 years ago, I was surprised to find that there are not many Christian Churches in New England. A partnership would help to reach out to those people who are hurting. We need to help the city of Boston discover who Christ is and how to have a personal relationship with Him.

What’s the difference between New England Clam Chowder and Manhattan style Clam Chowder?

I have no idea. But, I did try chowder once while visiting and I really liked it! I couldn’t tell you if it was New England or Manhattan. (Denise, in the future, you will want to answer, 'New England Clam Chowder is better!')

We are thankful for Suncrest Christian Church and the many churches who are joining the Boston Partnership. To learn more about Suncrest, visit their website at www.suncrest.org.

Keep on prayin'...
New England Chowda at CheersIt is crucial that we pray for the Boston Partnership. To date, over 300 people have signed up to receive our prayer updates. That's incredible! We want to be aligned with God's mission and we want His blessing for this new church. So please keep praying! You can also pass this along to anyone who you believe would like to pray for and be kept in the loop regarding the Boston Partnership. Here is how you can pray for us this month:

  • -Thanks to God that the Browns found a home.
  • -For the Wilsons who are still finalizing housing.
  • -That God would bless the Tea Party.
  • -For the Hawkins family as they begin campus ministry this fall in Boston.
  • -For the families of those preparing to move to Boston (including Dan and Kristin, Tim and Stephanie, John, Phil, Mike and Karen and Hank and Julie).

Be joyful always; pray continuously; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the God's will for you in Christ Jesus. -1 Thess. 5:16- 18
